Here at FEARnet, where vampire fans run rampant and ensure more box office bite than bark, do you think Twilight can pack enough bloodsucking action to reel in the Legend crowd as well as the Robert Pattinson fans? What are your projections? Will the unconventional vampire rules of Twilight leave theater seats empty or pack em’ so tight even a sexually frustrated teen vampire is uncomfortable? Give us your projections after the jump and check out “The 2008 Fang Gang” to see where Twilight fits in with the vampires of 2008!
Film School Rejects had the chance to pick Will Smith’s brain after the Seven Pounds premiere about the upcoming Oldboy remake he’s reportedly signed on to star in – and apparently it won’t be a remake. It will be an adaptation of the manga on which Chan Wook Park’s film was based. Says Smith, "We're looking at that right now. Not the film though, it's the original source material. There's the original comics of Oldboy that they made the first film from. And that's what we're working from, not an adaptation of the film." Not really sure what that means, considering the film isn’t much different from the manga, but I will assume it’s an attempt by Spielberg to try and not piss fans of the original film off – which is admirable if at the same time a little sniveling. But let’s hope Spielberg’s take on this is still as interesting as the original – which with his track record (ahem… Jurassic Park – which was almost nothing like the book) looks pretty certain.
Bummed that our old pal Darren Lynn Bousman’s latest flick Repo! The Genetic Opera didn’t come to your town? Well, you may be in luck! That’s right, Darren and Repo! star/creator Terrence Zdunich are expanding their tour and taking the film to five more cities!! From December 4th to December 8th, the Repo! Road Show will be hitting five new theaters on the second leg of its tour – including Phoenix, New Orleans, Boston, FEARnet’s home town of Philadelphia, and Houston. Check out the official announcement here to see where and when you can peep the flick!
G4 reports that a video game adaptation of the upcoming Terminator film, Terminator Salvation is in the works. The game will be a third person shooter and will be released to coincide with the film’s release. No word on how closely the game will follow the plot of the movie. One thing that is confirmed (by me) is that this game will most likely not be as awesome as the SNES game Robocop Vs. the Terminator.
Pasadena, CA will be holding its 6th Vinyl Toy Network show December 6th and 7th. The show covers all things vinyl and designer-toy related. The real item of note, here, are the show exclusives. Like the hard-to-find toys that are only released at Comic-Con, this year’s Vinyl Toy Network will offer exclusive toys. One of those of interest to us is the special Super 7 exclusive of Mummy Boy!
After Dark’s Horrorfest III has slowly been dripping content onto the web, and today we have probably the best thing I’ve seen from any of the films thus far: a poster for Perkins’ 14 (via IMP Awards.com). The poster has a really cool, raw retro look to it and has got something I think you’ll all enjoy - gallons of blood everywhere. Perkins' 14 will definitely be one of the eight films worth keeping your eye on – it was developed online by fans who helped with the story and casting, and Massify.com held a contest in September to develop the poster art for the film. I'm wondering if this is the fan-submitted poster. If it is, Hollywood needs to give this fan a paying gig. Check out the art below.
